“The slow burn was my favorite. I preferred an explosion of fiery sex, rather than a ho-hum, tepid hook up.”

Our Journey of Kink
Maribel has never been shy about what she wants. When Kyle, a tall, quietly charming music professor who's new to Detroit, wanders into her life, she shows him her city first: breakfast at The Hudson, the People Mover, Eastern Market, and an afternoon of craft beer. Then, slowly, she shows him the rest of her world.
Part One
Where it begins.
Maribel is a young woman in Detroit with a few things left to check off her list. She already enjoys a domme-ish dynamic with her play partner Abby. Then she meets Kyle, the new-in-town music professor who just wants to make friends, and wonders how much of her life she can share without scaring him off.
A Saturday tour of Detroit turns into day drinking and a deliberate, delicious slow burn. Maribel opens up about her non-monogamous life and hopes it doesn't scare Kyle off, while things heat up between her, Abby, and Eric.
Over lunch, Maribel invites Kyle to an invitation-only, sex-positive party in a mansion run by the enigmatic Professor Plum. There are rules, there is security, and there is a candlelit piano.
Chloe, Alisha, and Kate draw Kyle toward desires he's never let himself explore. Then come aftercare in the snuggle room, a trip down to the dungeon level, and a first night at his place.
A sweet, sleepy wake-up becomes something much less gentle, followed by an honest talk about non-monogamy. Later, Abby asks Maribel for more instructions and doesn't fail to comply.
Detroit Coneys, an honest talk about drop, and a weekend kink event in Ohio with Abby and Eric, where a smooth-talking stranger named Mickey sets off every alarm Maribel has.
Saturday morning came, and we met at The Hudson. We both looked quite different from the night before, transitioning from business dress and nice suit to jeans and t-shirts. He was still quite handsome. He had a clean shaven face, which he should, only if to show off his strong chin and jaw line. Of course I had no way of knowing how tall he was the previous night, being propped on a piano stool all night—but he was pretty damn tall. I made a conscious decision not to ask his height; any tall person I've ever met gets asked that all the time, and I wanted to be different. We shook hands again just outside the restaurant, both smiling nervously.
“This is very kind of you to offer to meet up, I haven't made any friends here yet, I'm dying for social interaction.” He opened the door for me and we stepped inside.
“Well, that's silly, Kyle,” I replied as we waited to be sat. “You met ME last night, so I would say that yes, you have made a friend.”
He chuckled nervously. It was adorable. “Then I'm relieved, because you seem to be a fun friend so far!”
You have no idea, Kyle. No idea.
“Soooo, I had planned to go to an event this weekend...I was invited a month ago, and I'm wondering if you'd be interested in going as well.”
He waited for me to say more, but when I didn't speak right away, he gave me an expectant eyebrow raise before saying, “Are you gonna tell me what event this is?”
I shot him a seductive, knowing look, and winked. He smiled and laughed a bit and said, “I gotta say, I'm very much a fan of how you're looking at me right now, but knowing your lifestyle and the vagueness of this ‘event’ so far, I'm a little scared to ask more details about it!”
I laughed loudly. “Well, you're not wrong to say that!” I got a bit more serious before I continued, “We don't have to come to a conclusion at the tail end of lunch, but I wanted to bring it up now so you had some time to think about questions or concerns, if you were interested, that is,” I took a sip of water, “It's a...kink event. So, I would have absolutely no idea if you'd be interested or not.”
I waited for a response while studying his face. An amused smile started spreading and he said, “Maribel McAdams, are you asking me out on a date?”
I laughed coyly, “Well...I guess, yeah I am!”
The next morning I awoke to Kyle softly stirring next to me. I moved my legs a bit to tuck my feet in under the sheets and Kyle wrapped his arm around me and pulled me closer into a spoon.
“Good morning,” he whispered in my ear.
He started kissing my neck and it felt wonderful; I love the scratchy sensation of his stubble. “How did you sleep?” he asked.
“Like a rock,” I replied. I was lying. I always have difficulty sleeping somewhere new. Or maybe it's just difficult sleeping in any other bed than mine. But that had nothing to do with him, and he went out of his way to help me feel welcome and comfortable. I just wanted him to feel that the effort paid off.
“Good.” He breathed in heavy for a moment. He started playing with my hair a bit, stroking it softly. “Maribel, you are absolutely life changing.”
Mickey was a bit older than those of us in our group, I'd say at least ten years older than Abby. He looked put together; he had sandy hair and a very light and neat beard. He certainly didn't appear mean-spirited as she introduced us.
But make no mistake, this guy was a total dick.
Making light of my time and knowledge of the kink scene was done to put me in my place. The fact that he had no idea that I saw him break well-understood rules of not interrupting scenes was something I planned to use to my advantage.
Watching him talk to my friends gave me the ick. I didn't like this guy at all, and as he invited Abby to go “check something out” with him, who got all excited and skipped away with him, it gave me a real bad feeling.
